For those involved in Grime it is a passion, a true love affair driven by people with a dedication to their art and a genuine hunger to provide a voice for the movement. As long as Grime is repressed to the underground we deprive the population of one of the most important aspects of British culture, its youths. Therefore, our drive is to bring the underground to the masses, not just in the UK but across the globe.
At Risky Roadz we provide a platform where that voice can be heard, allowing people worldwide to experience Grime whenever they choose. We are about providing an opportunity to access a scene that challenges common conceptions of the young MC’s whose words are the poetry of entire generation, poetry that speaks of living life on its terms in Britain today.
We bring you every player on the scene from Ghetts, P, and Devlin, to the young stars of tomorrow still spitting bars from their rooms – the seeds of today that will help the movement continue to grow into the force it deserves to be.
Originally starting out in Rhythm Division back in the day, RSKY is a renowned and well respected filmmaker in the Grime scene. After seeing the American Smack DVD he decided to replicate the model for the UK. Taking just a camera, his skills as an editor, and his graff tag ‘RSKY’, he got to work filming Grime MC’s in the field.
His first releases, ‘Risky Roadz 1 & 2’, went on to become the UK’s fastest selling Grime DVD’s, building a reputation for their freestyle clips, most notably the Ghetto and Big Seac freestyle featured on Volume 2. Following this he went on to produce two documentaries, The Movement, and Fuck Radio 1 (the first Grime film to make it onto the shelves of HMV, ZAVVI, Play.com, and more) as well as collaborating with Slew Dem Crew on the Non Stop Working series.
